:blobcathug: (jain@blob.cat)'s status on Friday, 20-Oct-2023 01:39:40 JST :blobcathug: since there is a whole hacking community around the Texas Instrument Devices, someone should code a custom firmware which tricks out the protection mechanism (should be actually not that hard) -

Sexy Moon (moon@shitposter.club)'s status on Friday, 20-Oct-2023 01:41:31 JST Sexy Moon @Jain @snacks there is alternate firmware for the TI-92, it was locked down to disallow custom firmware but somebody figured out they could create a double-sized write image with the official firmware in the first half, and it would loop and write twice, overwriting with the second half, containing whatever you wanted. -

:blobcathug: (jain@blob.cat)'s status on Friday, 20-Oct-2023 01:45:07 JST :blobcathug: @Moon @snacks You can flash custom apps and custom roms on the newest TI Devices... im a bit curious how the locking down teacher software actually works. Powering the locking LED isnt much of an issue, its documented how to do that... so the only thing one have to do is to hook the menu and hide some stuff based on the locking config from the teacher Sexy Moon likes this. -

Miander (mian@berserker.town)'s status on Friday, 20-Oct-2023 01:53:49 JST Miander @Jain honestly I would allow some computers, TI-99, ZX spectrum, Commodore 64, Acorn Electron. No cassettes or disks tho.
