Sexy Moon (moon@shitposter.club)'s status on Tuesday, 17-Oct-2023 19:50:37 JST Sexy Moon I don't know the details of Bandcamp but it seems to be that the owners just cashed out by selling? They seem to have been VERY profitable and their business model wasn't scummy at all. Can anyone enlighten me? -

Rocket (rocket@shitposter.club)'s status on Tuesday, 17-Oct-2023 20:07:02 JST Rocket @Moon Shitty things are happening because of the recession/depression. Did I say recession? Haha! The economy is great. Just look at all the official numbers which are not doctored and definitely legit. Sexy Moon likes this. -

dotnet@loli.church's status on Tuesday, 17-Oct-2023 20:28:09 JST dotnet @Moon@shitposter.club afaik the original owners had sold to Epic last year and didn't really seem to do anything with it, then the employees tried to unionize, which at first Epic tried to prevent, and then recently sold it off to another music licensing company.
At first it seemed like this might be good for bandcamp as they'd get to offer a bigger collection by also including their parent company's licensed music, but looks like SongTradr probably intends to enshittify Bandcamp for its own business.Sexy Moon likes this.
