     @Maple Are people earning 100K$/yrs somehow forced to live in 50 major cities of USA? Simple market economy eludes socialists. USA is blessed both with great freedom of physical movement and with related great freedom of up(or down!) socio-economic mobility. One optimizes location and income, going to work where the income is maximized and cost of living minimized. That choice eludes modern socialists generations.
