   @puniko@mk.absturztau.be @jellyfriend@plush.city The one redeeming feature of Pawoo seems to be its art community. I have seen quite a few neat artists (who aren't pedos, btw) who are from that instance. However, I feel that it's been recently supplanted by Misskey.io, so it's no longer unique as an art platform as well.

     @jellyfriend @puniko originally hosted by the huge Japanese art website Pixiv with accounts offered for all of their users, Pawoo was one of the biggest instances running Mastodon on Fedi.
     
     Due to the above it mostly hosted Japanese speakers and featured manga art posts near exclusively. And because Japan isn't the west they also had a large number of posts of the kind westerns are uncomfortable with, mostly girls and boys who look too young in situations they really shouldn't be in.
     
     Later Pixiv sold the instance to a hentai publisher which only exasperated the issue, and then it was sold again, and now it's gone.

     @puniko @jellyfriend I doubt that was the reason, Japan doesn't care about this like the west does. It probably got shut down because it's massive and not generating profit - after changing hands several times the last owners probably couldn't find anyone else to sell it to.

     @limepeep @puniko @jellyfriend yeah Misskey is far closer to Japanese user tastes than Mastodon, the migration probably didn't help. :blobcatthink:
