Even if Hamas was elected into power in 2009 in a close election, that still does not justify what is happening right now.
This is NOT about recognizing the state of Israel; this is about a gross assault of collective punishment on a group of mostly CHILDREN, done for no other reason than pure racist bloodlust and coveting their land.

The Palestinians are a people struggling to find a national identity. The Sunni and Shia nations have neglected them while blaming the existence of Israel.
Jordan and Egypt both recognize the nation of Israel. Hamas is the elected government of Gaza.
I don't know what the answer is, but blaming Israel is exactly what Iran wants.

Also....if you actually manage to read up on Middle Eastern recent history, you will discover how Netanyahu's right-wing Zionist ruling government has actually encouraged, supported, and even financed Hamas as their preferred "opposition" in Gaza, as opposed to other Palestinian orgs further to their Left.
It's almost as if Israel baited Hamas into their act of "resistance" just to provide the justification for what they wanted all along: ethnic cleansing of Gaza.
