Once again #Norway has erupted in #Indigenous and #environmentalist protest- but also something more:
Norway's legal system, the safety of all citizens, is at stake.
The Government has now for two years ignored the Supreme Court's decision in the #Fosen case.
Yesterday a protest camp was put up outside parlament and #Sámi activists entered the building for peaceful protest. They were carried out by police in the night.

The King of #Norway has now granted the #Fosen protesters a meeting. In response, the protesters have declared the end of #civildisobedience actions - for now.
These protests marked the two year anniversiary of Supreme Court's ruling in the #Fosen case - in favor of the #Indigenous Sámi, but ignored by the government until the massive demonstrations in February and March this year.
Back then, government apologized and promised to address the issue. Since then, nothing has been done on #Fosen.

During Day 3 the #Fosen activists have blocked the doors of government ministries to protest government's ignoring a decision of the Supreme Court of #Norway. Activists have been forcibly removed by police.
Now, #Indigenous #Sámi tents, lávvus, have been set up outside the royal castle.
As the legislative and executive branches of the state refuse to respect the courts, activists have requested a meeting with the King of Norway.

As Day 3 begins, #Fosen activists announce that they will block the entrances and exits of government ministries, in a repeat of February's "shut down the state" tactic.

The #Fosen action's volunteers simultaneously run two bases 24/7: the parliament watchers at Elsa Laula Renberg's siida (encampment) and an internal service center for activists at the Sámi House. In addition, there are organizations in town that have opened their doors for activists.
This comes in addition to the protest actions ongoing elsewhere.

Yesterday's protests ended with a cultural event at the square outside parliament. Today's protests ended with a live concert at the Trinity Church in #Oslo.
The church has opened its doors as a second safe space for #Fosen activists, in addition to the activist base at Oslo #Sámi House.

On Day 2, activists moved on to the offices of Statkraft, major shareholder of the #Fosen wind power plant, blocking all entrances and exits to the building.
Statkraft is owned by the Norwegian state.
As the crisis between the executive and the courts in #Norway unfolds, President Silje Karine Muotka of the Sámi Parliament requested clarification about the role of the police when protesters use civil disobedience to make government respect a Supreme Court decision.

Mihkkal Hætta addresses the crowd. Hætta has lived in a lávvu (Sámi tent) outside Parliament for a full month to protest the government's refusal to follow Supreme Court in the #Fosen case.
His lávvu was joined by several other lávvus on October 11, on the two-year anniversary of the Fosen ruling.
His words are translated from Sámi to English by musician, actor, author, and one of the #Fosen movement's leaders Ella Marie Hætta Isaksen.
