   idk how many hours and days I've spent on this, but changing variables from global to local (in a simple test program on an ATTiny10) allowed it to do arithmetic. So WEIRD.

     @romin yeah it's an atmel chip, Harvard arch (was skimming this yesterday: https://microchipdeveloper.com/8avr:optimize) haven't dug into the why yet, just going back to try and fix the main firmware now :blobpray:
