   I was trying to look up Wordpress stats on FediDB and Fediverse Observer and ran into some weirdness. Then I started looking into Wordpress nodeinfo and webfinger results.

   I don't think this response should have backslash-escapes inside the JSON?

     @osma @pfefferle.wordpress.com can you explain the weirdness a bit more? This is the "normal" JSON encoding used by PHP and I experienced no issues so far, that's why I am curious.

     @osma @pfefferle.wordpress.com The /api/v1/instance is missing, because this is a Mastodon endpoint and I am not sure if we should copy it or not and NodeInfo does not compensate this amount of informations. Can you tell me what numbers you mean exactly?

     I wouldn't even have noticed, if https://fedidb.org/software/wordpress had not been quite sparse about what it can tell about current installations. My first go-to was to look at the nodeinfo response.. But perhaps that was a red herring. Quite possibly more to do with the lack of /api/v1/instance stats - though I wonder where the numbers FediDB now shows came from.

     @osma users and posts are part of nodeinfo, but MAU and location not.

     Well, you can see that https://fedidb.org/software/wordpress lists servers, users and posts. I think it collects the latter two figures from the Mastodon API, since those aren't part of Nodeinfo..
