   Takes about 10 minutes before I can start talking#Matrix clearly is the modern way of chat. Time to give up on #IRC with its anti-user design of being instantly able to say anything to anyone.

     @shipp@mastodon.coffee I'm in channels with hundreds (and a few going in thousands) on #IRC, and our messages actually arrive near-instantly to the other people. No several seconds (sometimes minutes) of delay. A better, cleaner interface which is actually focused on the chat, rather than a plethora of useless gunk that I didn't ask for, and are just burning through bandwidth.
     
     I use a chat platform to chat, and #Matrix keeps adding more things that simply don't improve the chat part of the whole platform. If Matrix actually performed well, many more of my "normie" friends wouldn't be so upset whenever they had to interact with it. Good thing the phone notifications for #Element users break so often, it keeps their blood pressure more stable.

     @tyil can go back to talking to the whole 5 people on irc. With matrix I can talk to everyone and the irc people, with actual modern features.
