     @judgedread Well, there's the patty melt, but putting the bread on the griddle changes things.
     
     English muffin works. It works even better with a really large burger, the giant burger mocks the undersized bun substitute.

     @p Regular white bread cannot be made burger-proof for homemade definitions of burger (thicc) by toasting or any other method known to science.
     
     Muffins and other bun-like objects are acceptable.

     Yeah, you also don't do a proper burger and turn it into a patty melt, now that I think about it. The whole thing is predicated on owning a griddle.

     @leyonhjelm @judgedread I dump curry on them. I just had some yesterday with no bread component, it was like...deconstructed chili. Burger, topped with black beans that were stewed with a little pork belly, sour cream, salsa.
