As a reference to a previous post of mine from early last month, plus recap.
I'm a senior in HS, and for years my city's school system has had to deal with subpar 3D printers due to being locked into a contract with a brand called MakerBot.
However, over the summer, a policy went through where it is now free game to use any printer brand you choose.
Hence, I took it into my own hands to jump on the gun in the first week of school and make a 15 page paper on a particularly open source brand called Prusa Research and why we should change to it.
Almost a month later, this paper was taken to a conference in the downtown area of the city to be looked at by the head of technology for the school system and other important tech people.
The result?
They were all impressed by my paper and it looks like the swap to this better FOSS oriented brand is almost guaranteed.
This should be an example to anyone that all change takes is a little spark. This was something between me and my close friend that we thought needed some change.
3D printing is something I absolutely love to do, and I want more students to have easier access to this hobby of mine. It's about planting the seed.
