I figured out installin an OS when I was a teenager because I fucked my computer up using Limewire. I had a prebuilt OEM that didn't have a reformat disc so I had to torrent a Windows XP professional SP2 disc and source the drivers for the hardware to get it all working. It seemed daunting at first but I was glad to have learned it after the fact.

@ooignignoktoo @kaia @xian @coolboymew my dad walked me through installing windows vista/7 when i was like 7-8 years old cause we were building a cheap pc (was just one of those hp office pcs with a slightly bigger hdd 80gb instead of 40 running vista) and showed me ubuntu when i was like 6. He also showed me how to build pcs too. Had no trouble installing oss when i was older cause its not much different nor is it hard to ask someone or google "how do i do 'x'"

@ooignignoktoo @Mondobizarrro @kaia @xian fucking up your computer because of a virus you got on these programs, then fixing it yourself is really a learning experience

It was common back then beacuse torrents were kinda new to normies, they didn't really get popular until the late 00's. When I was in college torrenting was popular but in the mid 2000's most people just used P2P programs like Limewire and it's clones and those things were plagued with malware / viruses.

I feel nostalgic for those days oddly enough but I don't wish to relive using limewire to get stuff

@ooignignoktoo @Mondobizarrro @kaia @xian I remember randomly having gotten a nasty fucking virus on Win ME that literally jumped partitions after installing windows to constantly delete your boot record. Fuck you. I had to delete all my D drive data to finally be rid of it

Later I ran some fucking vbscript file that turned all the pics into it. I fixed it somehow

Later I had the MS Blaster virus, all it did was kill some process (don't remember which anymore) that then Windows forced your pc to shut down in 2 mins. I had to use these 2 mins to search about it, understand what was happening, get the info, then eventually download the tool to remove it

      And etc etc etc
