Four years after the initial report, we finally found a fix to the original Linux native engine for Neverwinter Nights (not the Enhanced Edition) crashing on modern systems: https://forge.dotslashplay.it/play.it/games/-/issues/139
This was a tricky one, a symbol conflict with modern libsdtc++.so.6. But since one of our contributors, Phil Morrell, already fixed a similar issue with the Unreal Tournament (1999) engine a couple years ago and documented the process, we had good hints on how to fix the similar conflict for Neverwinter Nights.
The patched binaries are available from our server, feel free to grab them and share them widely: https://downloads.dotslashplay.it/games/neverwinter-nights-1/
Obviously, ./play.it support for Neverwinter Nights has already been updated to use these patched binaries.
