     @eris the main reason is that RCS itself is useless without Google's proprietary extensions, which Apple probably doesn't want to endorse.

     @eris in principle perhaps not, but given Google's track record with messaging systems... why would anyone bother to add support for one when they'll probably EOL it within a year or two?

     @eris does there? over here at least no one uses SMS, everyone is on WhatsApp, Signal, FB Messenger, whatever. do we really need to be tied into whatever system telcos decide to support?
