     @sjw Does it matters much ? Around here it's 220~230V with some also apparently using 240V.

     @lanodan they use the same outlet as the US but it's at 100v instead of 120v

     @scarlet @sjw Yeah freq difference would probably only matter for people having retro setups but maybe there's still some obscure things using the frequency as a clock signal.

     @lanodan some stuff would care. That's enough out of spec to shorten a motor's life.
     
     Most things these days (except for a few appliances) are designed to work on 100v-240v at 50Hz-60Hz so it's mostly just down to buying the right wall dongle to convert it.

     @EllisDee @lanodan yeah which we also used up until we decided to start grounding our stuff. I still don't understand why Japan didn't also adopt it.
     
     I understand why they don't need it but it certainly wouldn't hurt.
     
     A lot of newer places in Japan do have grounding and just have outlets like this so you can use an adaptor if you need to. However I'm sure you can see how this is fucking stupid compared to just installing 3 prong outlets instead of doing this:
