This is the "Taskbar" in Windows 11, which has now achieved its final form as a 100% clone of the Dock that was introduced on Macs about 22 years ago (and in similar form on NeXTSTEP about 34 years ago).

It's just very funny how uninspired the designers at Microsoft seem to be.

It doesn’t make sense to do something that is not as good as others, just to be different. 🙂
Gnome on Ubuntu has the same sort of dock, as does Pantheon. Default Gnome is similar. KDE Plasma will soon have a floating panel too.
It looks like the Next designers were really on to something all those years ago. 😄
