     @idea_enjoyer I hate to be the ACKSHUALLY guy, but the proper translation is more like "carried a girl off without her family's permission". It covers everything from casual sex to eloping as well, without blaming the girl.
     
     So it's more likely the Roman Empire was founded on successful bridenapping.
