@coolboymew @Lbabinz @hj hard to believe mass produced scarcity is going to retain or even increase in value.

@hj @Lbabinz also limited release, even in Japan, meaning this is going to retain its value

@coolboymew @Lbabinz @hj maybe the very early stuff will fare well in the long term but can't really say the same for the rest.

@coolboymew @Lbabinz @moth_ball @romin no. You can only play the game. You legally cannot use the game to earn money by letting other people play (I.e. making an arcade/net cafe), you legally cannot reverse engineer and disassemble and modify it, reselling, making backups, etc is illegal, even streaming is gray area. "Owning" a physical version does not give you any advantage over having a downloaded version on your drive. The only advantage is being able to sell it to fools like yourself. And if you're buying a game just purely for its scarcity then I really pity the fool.

@moth_ball @hj @Lbabinz @romin The point is that I get to actually own the game, I can do whatever I want with it, it's complete in cart AND due to more limited run rather than widespread availability in stores (and even there), it's a guarantee it's not going to drop to bottom prices
It's a win/win/win all around

@coolboymew @Lbabinz @moth_ball @romin yeah and making copies and backups of digital versions is just as legal.

Despite what Nintendo wants to make you believe, it's totally legal

It's legal to make backups of copies of games you own per the DMCA. As long as you're not distributing them for profit or otherwise. I can see nintendos argument with downloading roms though since the roms are technically someone elses game that is being distributed but if you download it and own a copy of the game it's a gray area since technically the game on the cart and your digital backup should have the same MD5/SHA1 hash if it's a legitimate untampered copy and they can't really prove you didn't back it up or downloaded it off someone else.
