     @Yak @xarvos Which could just be a repository like a file server or like how linux distros also come with a bunch of purely data packages to be read by one or more usually multiple software.

     @lanodan @xarvos The thing about a lot of Bible apps is that they include practically every translation and reference tools, all of which would be hundreds of PDFs. Actually pretty helpful for study.

     @Yak @xarvos I don't see how that relates.
     I'm making the argument about how stuff should be shipped, not about how it should be used, those are two very different things.

     @lanodan@queer.hacktivis.me @Yak@supernets.social @xarvos@outerheaven.club Well, you still want a nice dedicated viewer to the bible if you're doing research. Genuinely, did some for jokes a while back, and I'd rather have a dedicated program for it than scrounge through different PDFs. Sure, maybe the data format should be standardized across bible viewers, but I don't see how that would be majorly useful for any other uses (I don't think there's another piece of content that has 10+ versions that all keep the same semantic addressing to portions of them consistent).

     Data isn't useful without the software and vice-versa.
