people talk a lot about jpegxl having better compression and thats true but it needs more credit for this

1. WebP and JPEG XL progressive loading compared side by side. WebP loads top to bottom at full quality, so it takes moments for the bottom of the image to be drawn at all. JPEG XL instead loads the image at a low quality initially, so it's instantly all visible. Then it increasingly loads in more quality. This makes JPEG XL look like it's loading in much faster even at the same file size

  normal JPEGs have had this too btw- JPEG XL simply Still has this incredible feature from the original, while also having the benefits of modern image compression, more colours, and alpha transparency
