I use Ableton as a rewire device from Studio One, so I can use its plugins.

Ableton allows for slipping. It's a lifesaver.

Cymbals need timeline adjustment. It could be the speakers but they are a little late.

Is that ProTools? They must have a way to slip tracks early or late.

But the cymbals are a titch flangey.

      I don't like live's midi editor. Plus studio one just behaves more like a mixer. I also have an i9 with 18 cores / 36 threads oc'd to 4.5ghz with 128gb ddr4 4000. So there's that too. 🤷♂️

Ableton's the star, truth told. I get that folks get used to that timeline format, but the Live guys really opened production up with their routing possibilities.

There's nothing you're doing in One Rewiring to Live that can't be accomplished in Live alone.

Yes. Editing midi is just easier on Studio One. You can fine tune how you want the interface to act though a few clicks, e.g. snap to grid, etc. You can also select and duplicate or move with ease. With velocity, or any cc, you can shift click multiple midi events and either raise the velocity, etc, below the grid or enter a number by hand. You can hand draw the pitch and mod wheels, or use the pencil tool to make sine or saw waves, etc., in a cc, including fixing their frequencies. You can view multiple instrument on the grid and assign colors, which is great for not only seeing each instrument and how they interact, but also seeing the overall tonic movement and chord progression, etc. I can also detach the panel and make it full screen and zoom with a few keystrokes.

I think their quantize function needs work. You're better off doing a lot of things manually. Is that what you mean?

Studio one's weakness is that it's linear. Ableton gives me the ability to experiment with loops against loops. In Studio One that would require a lot of cutting and pasting.

I haven't messed much with abletons timeline much, but I can send the midi out to studio one when I get loop sequences I like and record the incoming midi on the linear grid.

Ableton also has a shit ton of tools, instruments, effects, and other plugins that no one has duplicated in a standard vst.

So I'm not knocking ableton. It's does what it does and it does it well. I've seen guys do some really cool stuff in it.

Studio one is just more akin to protools. It's a full service, mix an album level daw.
