    @flohw

    You can use Mastodon's advanced web interface to have as many columns as you want:

    https://fedi.tips/how-to-activate-mastodons-tweetdeck-style-advanced-web-interface/

    You can pin lists open in their own separate columns.

    You can't add people you don't follow to lists, but you can hide lists posts from your Home timeline:

    https://fedi.tips/how-to-use-the-lists-feature-on-mastodon/

    (See the instructions at the bottom.)

      @nefoun_qu_jw @flohw

      The reason they require following people you add to a list was because on Twitter trolls and bullies were using lists to manage lists of victims.

      By requiring you to follow them, people can control who has them on a list and block people if required.

      @feditips @flohw This is not intuitive at all. If I want to follow someone, I follow someone. If I want to add someone to one of my lists, I add someone to a list. No sense to follow someone I don't want to follow.
      Still no sense to follow someone I don't want to follow, then add to list, then hide from timeline.
      Of course I still can use browser bookmarks and tabs and look at various users posts. But that's what lists are for, in theory.

      Great! 😁

      Just to be clear, pin column was around before but hiding posts from lists is new 👍

      @feditips I looked at the links and it seems my server is up to date as the "pin column" is avaible. 😊
      Thanks, this is a huge addition for me!

      Well, it is very hidden! If you don't already know, it is difficult to discover 😞
