Another nice thing from the Mastodon 4.2.0 update:

You can now export and import Lists, and take your Lists with you when you transfer accounts to another server! 🎉

There are instructions for the export and import process in steps 5 and 6 of the full account transfer process:

(The Lists import feature is only on servers running 4.2.0 or above, so you can't do this if you're transferring to a server running an older version.)

What I would like the most is the ability to create list of accounts I don't follow to group different interest together instead of having on thread hardly readable.
Also the 3 columns interface is not very useful for me. I would like to have as many column as I want with the different lists I created. Like tweetdeck used to propose. Any tip about it? 🙂

If you go to the server's website it will mention the version number at the bottom left corner in desktop mode.

If you're on a phone, you can see the version number by going to the server's About page and the version number will be at the bottom of that.

I can see you're on bookstodon.com so if you go to the website's About page at https://bookstodon.com/about you can check the version.

Yes, the v number is the version. Bookstodon is on 4.2.0 which is the latest version 👍

If you click the #Explore link on bookstodon and then "hashtags" you'll see the same thing as trending.

      @AntimonySchnuck

Lists export has been around for ages.

      Lists import is new.

So, this is the first time people can use it to transfer their lists from one server to another.

(And no, I've no idea why they had lists export with no import option previously.)

I'm confused: it's a good feature but it's not new...?!
I took this screenshot 10 days ago for a "backup your follows" toot (that's why the arrow points there) and the "Lists" item underneath already had the CSV link too. (We only got the update 3 days ago)

No, but you can hide the posts of a particular list from your Home timeline so you'll only see the posts on the list.

See the last item on this page for instructions on how to hide the posts:

@feditips I would like to list accounts I don't follow or share lists to others.
What would happen if I share my following list to others: could they import it and follow accounts I follow?

As far as I know, the accounts they don't follow would not be added to their list.
