   I recently bought a BluRay player, pulled out my old box of DVDs, and arranged a shelf for them. In order to beef up my collection I decided to go down to the local op shop and buy some.

   Holy Moley! everyone should do this. It is a gold mine of great movies for dirt cheap out there.

     @Schmilsson The reason we did this is because the kids are in a bad habit of binging through Netflix. And the idea was when a DVD ends, it gives you a chance to break out of the spell.

     @ned not last time I checked a couple of years ago. The "best" option was an extremely expensive player that wouldn't brick after changing the region 5 times.

     @ned and then you start a Plex instance to save damage to physical media, then you start taking requests, and 150Tb later you don't want to know what my electricity consumption is like. It's a slippery slope.
