     Open social standards don't make a network service perfect and they don't make a community pristine and wonderful. But they make it incrementally better than if it's not open, and they make it possible for people to move to other platforms and connect to other communities.

     You don't have to love these networks. You don't have to connect with a single person on them. But you can still be happy that some people are having better lives and more control of their technology than they did the day before.
