#tech question regarding phones. I need to buy a new one asap. Battery is suddenly not working properly and it is where my #CMG is. I don't want all the damn bloatware but I'm worried about switching from an android to an apple.
Is it easy to move from android to apple? Contacts, pics, etc?
Does Apple have less bloatware? Or does that depend on your service provider?
    Thank you!

@funkybuddha @Mary625 Ps. LibreOffice can also be installed under Windows. But OnlyOffice is also not bad at all. I have OnlyOffice with Nextcloud integration at my home server.

@melroy @Mary625 I use Only Office, looks almost exactly like Excel (also has the Word equivalent), and never had problems with compatibility. Works for Windows as well, so you can test it now!

Thank you! Can you still use Excel on Linux? I've never used it

@Mary625 laptop is easy. Just install Linux. Get rid of Windows completely. Try Linux Mint, which is fully free to download and install.

There are also laptops with Linux pre-installed. Like system76 (from US), allows you to choose between popos or Ubuntu. It's all linux, since linux is open source there are many flavors, so called distributions. Giving you a lot of choose. Anyhow, I will still go either popos or linux mint in your case. #linux

Wow. Thank you! I currently have a Pixel 3a but that's the one that's dying. I need to replace it. I'll read all this and see if I think I can do it.
If I could find a tech person who could stop all the microsoft crap on my laptop and all the google and verizon crap on my phone, I would pay well (as much as I could, which isn't much thought) to have that done.
I envy you tech people 😊

      Thank you!

@Mary625 Instead of running the stock rom LineageOS is a so called custom rom. You didn't mention which Google Pixel, but here select your model: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/#google (which also contain links to installation instructions and the correct image).

See also this detailed blog article: https://www.androidauthority.com/lineageos-install-guide-893303/.
And finally, if you have questions just let me know.

I'm in the US so I can't do that FairPhone.
I'm sorry, I don't have any idea what LinageOS is but I will look it up. Thank you. I currently have a google pixel and they have so much bloatware, they keep putting in more crap and making it impossible to turn things off that I used to be able to turn off. Google has gotten like microsoft that you cannot stop updates no matter what you do. At least what us who have little knowledge and skill in this area.
      Thank you!

@Mary625 FairPhone if you are from EU? Otherwise you can always flash LineageOS or /e/OS on basically any Android phone. Don't use the stock roms from Samsung etc. Android is not the problem, Samsung is.
