     That might be the best breakdown of a bible story I've ever heard. The priests, merchants, and moneychangers were just as scummy as people from nowadays.

     He not only pointed out their scam, but he did something about it. I always took that story to be the last straw before they decided he needs to die.

     Not necessarily the last straw depending on you read. According to the Gospel of John, Christ clears out the temple twice, as He does so in chapters two after the wedding at Cana and the beginning of His ministry while Matthew and Luke see him clearing out the temple after His triumphal entry.
     
     The Jews didn't learn their lesson the first time.
