   Also, don't make me teach Manufacturing Consent out here, it takes a very long time and so many people already know it that it just spawns endless conversations that go nowhere but "I agree" and "I love OLD Chomsky before he got weird" etc.

   The guy who wrote it doesn't have to be trying to write colonial/capitalist propaganda, he just has to believe that shit and write a book the people supporting the fuck barrel can USE to buttress their shit. That's actually how we decide WHO gets published.

     I think people resist the idea of manufactured consent because it would force them to understand that many of their most deeply held beliefs are actually unhelpful things they've been *programmed* to believe by culture and media.

     And most people cannot accept the idea that they are influencable, more-over, have already been influenced, and that propaganda continues to work on you even as you are aware and observing it happen to yourself.
