   Gah, halfway through that C++ 'we don't actually care about safety, we want to market as safe anyway' crap pisses me off. "Oh, these other languages are domain specific, we're general".

   C++ is irredeemable from a safety and soundness standpoint and the only thing to do is the Aliens solution:
   Dust off and nuke the site from orbit, its the only way to be sure.

     One of my goals over the next few years is wherever I end up teaching basically eliminate C/C++ from everything but the computer architecture class.

     The disregard for safety of all kinds that is endemic in C/C++ is having human rights and foreign policy implications way above the level of engineers who have built little fiefdoms on quicksand.
