@mattly I don't know how exactly you got jbri tech. But I think the first steps most of us took into tech isn't just a detour. I think it's consistent with being a person who makes things. Outside the tech industry writing a piece of software to do something feels like it's mostly a creative endeavour not that wildly different from making music or writing a story.

- Will it make a positive impact on the planet?Happy to continue convo

Jon (Snarf) Mason (snarfmason@hachyderm.io)'s status on Friday, 15-Sep-2023 06:11:00 JST Jon (Snarf) Mason @mattly ever do any LogoWriter? I have no idea what that was "supposed to be for" but it was like digital Lego to me when I was, I dunno, 12 years old?
But being a software professional is so divorced from that experience of creation, it's hard to remember why I ever touched a keyboard sometimes.

Jon (Snarf) Mason (snarfmason@hachyderm.io)'s status on Friday, 15-Sep-2023 06:11:02 JST Jon (Snarf) Mason @mattly but the tech industry is basically one huge half century long grift at this point.
Matthew Lyon repeated this.
