I got a Mikrotik SXTsq 5 ac and installed it in my basement to see if it would give a better link.
It both did and didn't

And yes, I'm aware that due to all the material I'm passing through from the basement to my living room, 2.4Ghz would probably give me a better link.
But the Mikrotik Audience in my living room doesn't have a spare 2.4GHz radio, so I'd need to also add a 2.4GHz antenna in my living room to go that route.

RB4011 gave me about 5-15 Mbit in either direction.
SXTsq gave me about 30-60 Mbit down but only 0.5 - 5 Mbit up and was generally unstable.
I spent like a full hour yesterday carefully tuning the antenna positions and placement of the RB4011, so now it gives me about 20-40 Mbit in either direction. And I guess I'll live with that for now. It's enough to stream most content from my NAS to my osmc box. But still means I can't stream stuff like 4K Blu-ray rips until I somehow get a better connection.

It was weird, from the perspective of the server rack it was like having DSL. Download speeds were usable, but upload was crap and the connection was generally unavailable.
So even though I lost some link speed, I ended up switching back to the RB4011 for the stability and less asymmetrical performance.

I guess I should've expected it, but after installing the SXTsq, the rx power went up by like 10 dBm, but tx power went down by about 5 dBm compared to my RB4011.
A -5 to tx wouldn't be a problem, if only the connection wasn't already borderline. So while "download speeds" from my living room to the rack improved, "upload speeds" from the rack to my living room pretty much halved and the connection started dropping once in a while due to the lower tx signal.
