   Bummer for us lovers of high-end small phones.

   I’ve got a laptop that I plug into a ginormous monitor, and I seem to live my life surrounded by iPads somehow.

   If I want a big screen, it’s not like I’m hurting for one. And when I walk 4 or 5 miles, as I like to do, I don’t want to feel one knocking around in my pocket.

     You know what I •really• want? I want a phone the exact shape and size of the iPhone 6 — or the iPhone SE — with an edge-to-edge screen and a great camera.

     And as long as I’m dreaming, no notch. And a magical laser pony.

     I suspect that what’s truly weird about me here is not that I like small phones, but that I don’t use my phone as my primary computing device.

     Memo to Apple: I have no plans to replace my 3-year-old phone any time soon. I figure it’s about halfway through its life. Hi, it’s me, I’m the problem, it’s me that “uses the same device forever” customer you dread.

     But if you sold that “SE pro” I describe above, I would actually buy it today.

     @inthehands yeah, i have the 13 mini, and it’s the best. forget one handed use: i want something fits comfortably into a pocket!

     @inthehands I am made grumpy whenever I'm asked to use a self-phone for any online thing. Even that popular pastime known as "texting!"

     Can't tolerate the fiddly little keyboard with its symbol-mode-shifts and whatnot, while peering at the screen like Mr Magoo.

     I can type like a fiend, and happy to do so, on a full-sized keyboard.

     What really frosts me is that,

     "Now, these devices are essential for modern life…"

     I don’t think I’ll ever not view the smartphone as the cute, clever, mini version of the real thing — like a portable chess set or a Micro Machines car.

     @inthehands iPhone 12 Mini here. I switch over to iOS when Sony killed the Xperia Compact model, of which I had three in that line. It seems like there’s an ebb and flow with small phone availability and you are screwed if you need a new phone during the in between period. I’m hoping I can keep this phone in good shape and it’ll still function well enough for another couple years and maybe someone will release another good quality 5” screen phone.

     I do like big screens for non-phone tho. 🤷♀️
