@trygvekalland Thanks for the earnest response to my snarky answer. There's a third and fourth option: they can't win, without declaration of war by Europe/America and direct military support. So, open war or not.
@Moon Plenty of ukrainians have suited up and jumped in. Whether I love it or not, isn’t relevant. The question is if you support people fighting for their freedom against a brutal dictatorship, or if you think you know better than them, and rather leave them to their fate.
@trygvekalland I read the article you linked and I'm satisfied you probably don't think I'm a fascist for just thinking the war is unwinnable. So I take back my hostile response. Maybe you think I'm a coward or something but I can deal with that, it's a high-stakes issue for a lot of people. I'm sympathetic to the security issues you mention.
@Moon I disagree. In fact, I think they are far more likely to win than lose at this point.
But that’s not really the point though, the point is that they’ve chosen to fight, and it’s kind of arrogant for us to pretend to "save" them by essentially handing them to the Russians. Also it’s nuts, from a self-interestedly security perspective, given Russia’s current and historic policies in Europe.
@Moon@trygvekalland The problem really is that Ukraine (and thus Ukrainians) are not fighting for freedom: they are carrying chestnuts out of the fire for the benefit of the global transnational elites. These elites and their evil agenda are literally enemies of common Americans, or any working people globally.
