All this wibbling in SF/F about "what it means to be human" and "discovering one's humanity."I've been othered, dismissed and minimised my entire life, and I fully expect to be murdered by fascists for the crime of not being like them.

@foone @lunareclipse I honestly just simply never understood what was so important about being human that people would organize over "losing their humanity" by replacing their arm or whatever the fuck. Like it doesn't even fucking matter if you're human or not all that really matters is whether you're you or not. It actually really pisses me off when science fiction starts Naval gazing about whether you're truly human or whatever. What's so good about being human? Why does it matter? Why shouldn't we be eagerly and joyously giving nature the finger and doing whatever we want with our bodies?
