   Nice perspective. I come from France and we still celebrate Churchill as a hero of France’s liberation from Hitler. Although when I was younger, the worst people were saying we avoided thanks to him was “to speak German” which made me take some distance with the rhetoric and consider colonialism negatively as we ourselves forced quite a few countries throughout the world to speak French.

     here is my uncle, he is the eldest, his name Joseph Mwobobia, he was born in 1948, his father(my grandfather) was a victim of British empire, who died in 1955. We were discussing about his father some years back because they never saw even his body, he concluded the conversation by saying "you know the difference between Churchill and Hitler is that one was defeated and died with his story and another won to keep telling his stories." I never questioned him again, he was meaning they were equally monsters. 🤣
