    A question for Law Mastodon, because I have absolutely no idea:

    Does Elon Musk using Starlink to intentionally disrupt a Ukraine military operation against Russia potentially violate laws about who may conduct foreign policy? (Logan Act, Article II, whatever, who knows??)

      My reading as a legal ignoramus says probably not, but maybe it’s an interesting question and I’m here to learn!

      @inthehands That's a good question, but what about the arms industry?

      @olireiv Yes, exactly: there’s clearly some line that separates “just commerce” from “conducting foreign policy.” But where is that line? Do arms industry corps seize control of their own products to override military command during battle?

      @malwareminigun
      That would be my guess, too, but I’m not confident. Don’t arms sales to foreign powers sometimes have to get gov approval? And when do companies actively intervene during an operation to override military command? That seems like it might cross into new legal territory.

      @inthehands I doubt it. It's a contract between his private company and the military, that behavior isn't setting US policy
