     i found this stuff at the hardware store called "Goo Gone" -- it is based on orange oil, and it smells like oranges.
     it does a great job on water-insoluble messes, particularly terpenoid messes like pine resin. It's a solvent -- later, you wash the orange oil out, along with the dissolved goo
