   my sony noise cancelling headphones failed in the worst way possible, the noise cancelling actually becomes noise amplification and the thing makes a very annoying and scary whining noise. They still work with the ANR turned off.

     @lain I have some pine buds that their selling point is a super ANC mode- it does the same thing, but since I never use that mode it doesn’t end up bothering me much in practice. I usually have the passive mic mode running for practical reasons.
