     @Sophistifunk See all I hear people talking about is replacing power lines and railway. Fuck that. If it can be used in microchips, sure. I guess we'll get a few more years out of Moores law. But I don't give a shit If the navy gets a new fancy rail gun.

     @ned i accept they exist. but why do they annoy my sense of reason!?

     eg. lk-99 copper replacing some lead causing reduction in volume permitting a quantum well that electrons can jump into. why don't electron jump into this well ordinarily?

     @philcolbourn @ned depends. Everything you learned until 10th grade came from drawing and counting things. After that, a lot of times the math came first then a couple hundred years later somebody notices that useless branch of masturbatory bolllocks happens to be exactly what’s needed to predict and model newly discovered phenomenon X.

     @Sophistifunk @ned yeah but the superconductors will be buried in someone's back room until they can't milk the existing infrastructure anymore and then it'll magically appear in some fashion where they can make exclusive profit from it.
