    After Zoom seemed to suggest it was going to start training AI models on our communications, just look at this flailing, emphatic backpedaling:
    https://blog.zoom.us/zooms-term-service-ai/

    Good job raking them over the grills, everyone. Keep eyes sharp and keep up the grilling — Zoom and every other company that thinks they own every bit of data that flows through their plumbing.

      Quick, obvious thoughts:

      • E2E encryption matters now more than ever.

      • It was pants-on-head stupid for Zoom to ever even hint they might do this, and they’ve burned a lot of trust they’ll never win back.

      • Panicked leaders make bad decisions.

      @ShadSterling
      They did update the TOS to include the boldface text repeated in the blog post (“Zoom does not use any [customer communications] to train Zoom or third-party artificial intelligence models”), and AFAICT at a glance, the new terms don’t leave any wiggle room or escape hatches. And I imagine the blunt language of the blog post would be actionable if they did. (Warning: IANAL)

      @inthehands did they actually remove that from their TOS?

      @ShadSterling Yeah, that was the situation recently, and I imagine blowback to that is what prompted that arm-waving blog post.

      Judge for yourself; terms here: https://explore.zoom.us/en/terms/

      @inthehands ah, that’s new then; last I’d heard it still said “without consent”, where consent seems to mean “agreeing to the TOS”, which only means they won’t do it unless you use their service
