   My treating everyone at my door like they're cops has once again paid off.

   I get a knock.

   I step outside.

   "Hello, I'm your landlord" (who has illegally just turned up at your door)

   "I want you to pay rent directly to me" (also illegally done, not in my contract)

   Fucking landlords man, I hate em so much.

     To add to this, I gleaned from our conversation that he has pulled this shit with my 2 neighbours (he owns the houses either side too). It seems they have both started paying rent to him directly. I'm gonna try and form a tenants union to fight this bullshit. Any advice, tips or tricks welcome.

     When unionising, my main piece of advice is to let the other person talk themselves into it.

     Literally everyone hates their landlord, so this isn't hard. (If you're a landlord reading this, yes, everyone hates you.) However, people often find the idea of doing anything about it to be frightening. So, at first you have to normalise the idea of talking to one another about what a scabrous piece of shit the landlord is. Ease people into it. Let them think they're coming up with ideas.
