     @adam I remember when Facebook used this exact same strategy to declare Facebook the "premier destination for video on the web". That was like 8 years ago now.

     @wcarlson @adam So on Youtube if the thumbnail plays for even 1 second it gets added to your watch history. If you click on that video it will start playing at the point the thumbnail played up to.

     Well, the joke is on youtube because, at least for now, they haven't figured out how to inject ads into the thumbnail preview. And, I don't mind watching with subtitles. However, there is an app I use that obliterates all youtube ads (S Tube).
