When I read about how "AI"/LLMs help us fight the climate crisis the saddest thing is that its evangelists admit that the solutions are known and popular enough that an LLM would pick them up.

Which is true. We've known what to do and what not to do for decades. I was taught about it in fucking school 30 years ago.

But that's not what these innovation-priests mean. They are projecting a magical thinking of "solves everything without work or discomfort" onto stochastic parrots in order to avoid doing anything that might affect their lifestyle.
