I said I weren't gonna talk about the twitters but the fact they're deleting their archive?

Man, that's a lotta history.

Back on there, you had people reporting on their own experiences with protests, coups, wars, revolutions, overthrows all round the world.

And a lot of that shit is ignored.

Whether we're talking about West Papua or Sudan or Kashmir or anywhere else, that's a lot of history just flushed down the toilet. A lot of people going "Nobody is listening to me, please share this, this is happening to me"

And they were suspending those accounts back in the Dorsey days. Don't get me wrong. This ain't a "Oh I just noticed twitter was dogshit" kinda post, but the thing is civilians under fire, or revolutionary freedom fighters or whoever, grab whatever platform they can and in a lotta places, your choices are limited and you ain't got time to be selective.

You're in trouble and you see a mic with an amp hooked up to a generator? You're gonna scream through that and not be too concerned whether a US military-industrial outfit made the generator, or the mic was made by some German company with shady nazi connections, or the amp was mass-produced in Vietnam after years of getting its economy screwed by more powerful entities.

And I got family who ain't on here and they use whatever means they got to get word out about what's going on, cause some of em live in places where the ruling power gets wind of it and that's goodnight.

There's a reason I'm deliberately vague. Some of them places are hyperauthoritarian nation-states, others are occupied and contested locations and yep. I know when to shut up. Which is right now.

So any channel is a potential channel. And a lot of them channels are risky. So's this one in its own way. But people take that risk *every day* just so they can get out what's happening where they are that the press might ignore, or some powerful bastard just takes over the whole media and suddenly the news sites in the country are all "The government is in charge now, everything is fine shut up", or you ain't even allowed to have your own country cause you're considered the 'wrong' ethnicity or culture or religion and man, the idea of someone taking all those desperate voices, the history and knowledge of what has happened and just erasing it like that with no care or thought is a fucking crime.

It's a fucking crime.
