@deVoid Bee's live in a mathematically perfect structure, honey comb minimizing parameter (and so wax needed) and maximizing internal area. Wasps are pure chaos. It's like Vulcans and Romulans.

@Elliptica @deVoid humans experience the 'uncanny valley' because we evolved in an environment where it was very useful to be alarmed by creatures that looked a lot like us but were subtly off.
meanwhile here's a wasp that looks like a bee! wow!

@apropos @deVoid I've heard that before, but I don't think it's true. People don't have a visceral disgust reaction to seeing monkeys, chimps, apes, or people of other ethnicity (often they get curious, expressed as both interest and fear).
I think uncanny valley has more to do with avoiding people with serious aliments. They may be contagious, and it may even be as simple as not wasting limited resources on the deformed retard.

@Elliptica @deVoid there are more than subtle differences in your no-disgust list. Other races can be as obviously different as fictional Star Trek aliens, which also don't trigger that effect. But the curiosity/interest point has an amusing example: I've heard of a white baby that stopped crying to stare in amazement when a black guy kept flipping his hand. Light side/dark side/light side.
Serious ailments makes a lot of sense. Just look at arrest pictures of antifa.
