   We were having fun with MBTI at work so I tested myself for the first time in a while.

   I don't take it seriously, it's self-reported, MBTI is notoriously inconsistent and the archetype interpretation is horoscopes for numbers-inclined people, but like horoscopes it can be a good conversation and self-reflection starter.

   Please don't use MBTI in job interviews or in recurring HR evaluations. Neither has happened to me, but I hear it happens in the States.

     For me personally the result has always fluctuated between ENTP and INTP, with more INTP in my later years. Reservations again for the validity of MBTI, but *NTP tend to be very common among programmers, so there is very little surprise there.

     Interestingly enough I tested as ISTP this time, that's a first. Pretty close to the middle there on the S/N scale, and I have an idea of which answers did it, and I didn't really like how those questions were phrased.

     Still, I find it intriguing. I can't help but think that this accurately reflects an underlying change in how I see myself and the world. Some of the questions I know I would have answered differently ten years ago.

     @clacke I think it is technically illegal to use MBTI in an HR context. Not explicitly banned, but non job related innate personal characteristics are a major danger zone.

     From the looks of it, these coordinates 3, 2.75, 3.375, 3.625 seem to be on a scale where 2 is far left, 4 is far right and 3 is the tiniest bit to the left of center? I guess the center can't be allowed as each aspect is a binary. So I guess that could be said as 0% I, 25% S, 38% T, 62% P

     I took a #MyersBriggs test and for the first time I'm surprised by the result, but on reflection maybe it represents something real.

     @clacke for me, MBTI is bullshit, my results keep changing all the time and I think I hit almost every I-type out there, but I think I'm INFP or INFJ, somewhere along those lines

     MBTI has multiple issues:
     1) self-reporting
     2) lack of orthogonality between traits
     3) lack of rebustness and repeatability

     but even more:
     4) treating bell curves as dichotomies
     5) Barnum descriptions of archetypes
     6) exaggerated claims of applicability

     @sotolf With all this in mind, in my particular case I have been testing consistently N my whole life and the fact that I'm now testing S rhymes with my ambition to mature and become more well-rounded and open to other perspectives than my own, moving this trait toward the center.

     Maybe it's self-fulfilling, maybe I'm answering as the person I'd like to be, but I'd find that interesting too, that my ideal would be moving toward my meta-ideal, my "ideal of an ideal", my intellectual idea of what I'd like my intuitive, emotional ideal to be.
