   @AnungIkwe Hate speech laws are so effing stupid. Go ahead and have the hate crime laws, but I draw the line at hate "speech."
   
   Speech can be offensive, but nobody has a right to not be offended and these laws clearly are causing more harm than good.

     "Fianna Fáil TD Cathal Crowe said the incident in the UK has sparked fresh fears that failure to refine the current hate speech Bill making its way through the Oireachtas will result in similar incidents here.
     
     He said the hate speech laws being debated ‘need a huge amount of refining’.
     
     The Clare TD added: ‘There are some things that people should not be arrested for, some stuff comes down to bad manners, rudeness or ignorance, you can call things under many headings but it may not be hate speech and we need to be very clear on that.’
     
     He said there is a ‘baseline’ of hate speech that should ‘never be tolerated’, but that there is a ‘spectrum of other content that is difficult to encapsulate in legislation’.
     
     ‘This incident in Britain is an example of that,’ he added."
