I had no idea the Internet Archive (SACRED) was under attack by two different industries right now. They already lost a case against publishers who were angry they were acting as a digital library, they have appealed, and they’re waiting for a decision that’s expected soon. NOW the music industry is after them as well. Sony, Universal, and others have filed a copyright infringement suit against Internet Archive for its collection of <2800 vintage songs by artists like Frank Sinatra and Billie Holiday. They are seeking over $400M in damages — because Internet Archive provided access to old songs, for educational purposes, that are available to stream for free on YouTube.
