I wish there was a way to get good at drawing without actually drawing.

:ChenShrug: yeah, I don't think we are in disagreement, but I'm not sure blindness would count.
all calendrical savants I met for example, who can tell you the weekday of your birth, are intellectually disabled. -

grillchen (grillchen@brotka.st)'s status on Wednesday, 16-Aug-2023 21:01:53 JST grillchen @kaia @realarwing wait isnt savant syndrome just being extremely good at a very very specific thing while often having another disability? like a very good blind singer.
or people who have troubles understanding emotions being extremely good at math. etc.
you still need to learn the skill itself. like you will not suddenly start speaking french without every hearing french in your life -

okay, apparently there's 'acquired savant syndrome' (what I meant) and there's just 'savant syndrome' (what you said) -

「セル」cell (سل) (cell@pl.ebin.zone)'s status on Wednesday, 16-Aug-2023 21:25:02 JST 「セル」cell (سل) @kaia @grillchen @realarwing i don't think i've met any actual savants (ones with super brilliance in one area but otherwise not able to function in society); the smartest people i know irl tended to be quite well-functioning sociable human beings :cirno_think:
a few of them have the added benefit of being really sweet and kind people, truly some of the best people i've had the pleasure of knowing and befriending 🥰kaia likes this. -

grillchen (grillchen@brotka.st)'s status on Wednesday, 16-Aug-2023 21:39:07 JST grillchen @cell @kaia @realarwing everything but the Name triggers alot.
A face, an expression, an emotion , maybe speech, tone, voice, style etc. This has alot depth and brain needs to connect stuff to memorize it. Thats why nemorizing technics use that.
A Name itself is just a Name first. Only later we can build a connection between the Name and a Personkaia likes this. -

grillchen (grillchen@brotka.st)'s status on Wednesday, 16-Aug-2023 21:44:28 JST grillchen @cell @kaia @realarwing going to memorize a bunch of things later today in the gym. Sport triggers brain also very well.
When i was memorizing théâtre plays i prefered juggling vor throwing balls to other actors.
The good thing there is u have to keep going. You cant stop juggling. And the play has to go on. Improvise if needed. A few words changing wont matterkaia likes this.
