I've watched people look shocked and unsure what to do when I tell them I won't host meetings in my home (had really poor airflow) without talking to my roommate, and everyone wearing masks and not having food or drink. I've watched people tell me "they'll see what they can do" when I request they have a hybrid meeting.

Rebekah (cookiecat@kolektiva.social)'s status on Monday, 14-Aug-2023 06:50:48 JST Rebekah I've pleaded with folks to provide high quality masks at their meetings to make the meetings safer and if they REALLY want to do a social hour with food to hold it after the meeting so folks who aren't comfortable participating can leave. I've told these same people how I'm immunocompromised and how isolating it has been to see people drop mask requirements and stop taking precautions.
They said they "heard me" and then did nothing.

Smh.
You cannot claim to be in solidarity with workers and disabled people and then ignore them when they try to tell you that your group is no longer accessible.

Rebekah (cookiecat@kolektiva.social)'s status on Monday, 14-Aug-2023 06:50:49 JST Rebekah I've been watching masks and other COVID precautions disappear from "leftist" spaces that claim to be addressing internalized abelism and capitalism and be fighting for the working class for months now.
This is actively pushing out people who are at higher risk of long (and short) term impacts from a covid 19 infection.
